The history of the Kallisto Kastanitsa

The Kallisto Kastanitsa is the first step in the vision of Panagiotis Alivanoglou for the promotion of Kastanitsa and the surrounding area as a destination for mild, ecological and cultural tourism. With an origin by his mother from Kastanitsa himself, the grandson of "Gritsos", as was his grandfather's nickname, grew up in Athens flooded with memories of childhood trips to the village, with games and explorations in the forest, with the serpentine Tsakonian dance at festivals, with the stories of the grandparents in an unknown but charming local dialect.

We spent the May Day weekend at the guesthouse.The road is a bit difficult with many twists and turns but once you reach the village the view makes up for it.Excellent guesthouse and Mr. Panagiotis and all the staff are very friendly!!We also had a tour of the folklore museum, where we learned the history of the village and how it got its name Kastanitsa!!We have already booked our next excursion.Thank you very much!!
